Lahore: The Director of the Punjab Land Records Authority (PLRA), Faisal Ahmed, has announced the launch of the Green Property Certificate system, a notable initiative aimed at enhancing transparency, security, and efficiency in land administration and property transactions across Punjab.
According to Radio Pakistan, Faisal Ahmed, in an exclusive interview with correspondent Qasim Bukhari, explained that the Green Property Certificate has been developed under the Land Reforms Initiative through the Punjab Urban Land Systems Enhancement (PULSE) Project. This initiative is a collaborative effort between the Punjab Land Records Authority and the Board of Revenue.
The Green Property Certificate system is set to be implemented across the province starting July 1. Ahmed emphasized that beginning Wednesday, all land and property transactions in Punjab will necessitate a Green Property Certificate, leading to the complete abolition of traditional documents like "Fard Baraye Bai."
Ahmed highlighted the primary objective of the Green Property Certificate as safeguarding citizens' property ownership and boundaries, while eliminating fraud and forgery in transactions. He noted that this marks a historic initiative in the 486-year history of the land administration system, promoting transparency and ensuring secure property dealings. Under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the province is advancing towards development and prosperity.
The Green Property Certificate will verify both ownership and possession. To facilitate public convenience, the fee for obtaining the certificate has been set at 950 rupees. Ahmed urged citizens to secure the Green Property Certificate promptly to protect their property rights.
The Director of PLRA further explained that citizens can apply for the certificate by visiting their nearest Land Record Centre. The certificate will be issued after the verification of records, completion of the survey process, and authentication by the Assistant Director Land Records (ADLR).
