US, Russian defence secretaries discuss int’l security, Ukraine conflict

The US and Russian defence secretaries have spoken on phone in a rare moment of high-level contact between the two countries since beginning of Ukraine conflict.

 

Both sides confirmed that the situation in Ukraine was discussed.

 

After Friday’s call, Pentagon said the US was eager to keep lines of communication open.

 

Russia’s defence ministry said current questions of international security were discussed, including the situation in Ukraine.
