MQM decides not to participate in ‘long march’

Karachi: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) here Friday decided not to participate in ‘long march’ of Tehreek-i-Minhaj ul Quran leader Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri, scheduled from Lahore to Islamabad on January 14, 2013.

MQM leader Dr Farooq Sattar addressing press conference said after a meeting with coalition partners there party decided not to join the long march; however, their moral support to Dr Qadri would be continued. He said MQM chief Altaf Hussain has endorsed this decision and Qadri told about it.

He said there were information that terrorists wanted to sabotage the long march, and keeping in view the present circumstances the MQM decided not to practically join the long march. He said the ideology of Altaf Hussain and Dr Qadri is same. He said the 35 year long struggle of MQM is for bringing a revolution in Pakistan and restoring the rights of its poor masses.

Sattar said they are in contact with the Tehreek-i-Minhaj ul Quran, and both parties wanted electrical reforms and to steer the country clear from the present crises.
