MoU with UK firm for waste energy project
Karachi: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed with a British Company to utilize solid waste in Karachi to produce electricity and desalinate seawater to cater needs of Port Qasim Karachi.
The MoU was signed in Governor House here Friday. Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan, British Deputy High Commissioner Francis Campbell, Administrator Karachi Muhammad Hussain Syed, Managing Director Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) Misbahuddin Farid and Mr Cook of the Cook Company were present.
As per MoU, the Cook Company in the first phase would prepare a feasibility report of the project in three months to determine the commercial viability of the project. It is expected that heavy foreign investment would come Pakistan if the feasibility report proved positive.
