Karachi: Dawood College of Engineering and Technology DCET has declared the list of successful candidates appeared in the pre entry test for admission in various technologies, conducted on November 18.
As many as 3597 students had submitted admission forms, but 3234 students appeared in the test. Out of which 1691 passed and 1543 failed in it.

University SMIU, who is also incharge principal of the DCET while giving details on Monday, said there are total 562 seats reserved for new admission in DCET. Out of these seats, 173 seats are reserved for urban Sindh. Hence 1050 students, applied in this category passed the test.
Similarly 583 students passed the test against 173 seats reserved for rural Sindh. Likewise 21 students passed the test against 100 seats, which are being filled on self financing scheme.
Dr. Muhammad Ali Shaikh said interviews for final selection of the candidates would be conducted on Dec. 10 and the classes of new batch will be started from January 07, 2013.
He was of the opinion that this time we have completed admission process within due time, while last year it was delayed for a sometime, because it was the first year of the college, working under the administrative control of the Sindh government after the passage of 18th amendment.
He said last batch of 2008 passed out its annual examination a little bit late, while the batch of 2009 is appearing in final examination in the current month without any loss of the time.
“We are trying to make the DCET a quality and disciplined institution by giving priority to the academic activities,” Dr. Shaikh said and added that we have brought the institution on smooth path with the help of the staff and students of the college.”
