Ban imposed on pillion riding, plying bikes with silencers and aerial firing
Karachi: Sindh government under Section 144 of the Cr. P.C has imposed ban on pillion riding in Karachi for three days. The ban will be effective from Monday December 31, 2012 at 5.00p.m to January 03, 2013, according to a notification issued by provincial home department.
The ban shall not be applicable to women, children below the age of 12 years, senior citizens, disabled persons, journalists, personnel of law enforcing agencies in uniform and employees of essential services.
Violation of this order shall be liable to penal action under Section 188 PPC. The area SHOs, their subordinate Inspector/Sub Inspector/ASI are authorized to take legal action against the violators under the applicable law.
Through another order, the government has also prohibited plying the motorcycles without silencer/mufflers besides crackers and aerial firing, it said. The Home Department has suspended all the letters issued by it to various persons allowing them to carry weapons in relaxation of ban.
The ban has been imposed in view of maintaining peace on the eve of new-year while the Chehlum of martyrs of Karbala will also be observed on Thursday January 03, 2013.
