A village, crops on 500 acre land inundated due to breach in Gujar canal

Nawabshah, Sindh: Village Beero Khaskheli and over 500 acres of agriculture land were inundated as a result of 50ft breach in Gujar canal near Kenchi Bridge near Nawabshah town in the wee hours of Wednesday.

The irrigation staff was informed at 4.00a.m but they reached more than four hours late to plug the breach and by that time crops cultivated on vast area had come under water, a grower Muhammad Hakim Khaskheli told.

He feared damage to wheat crop recently cultivated besides sugarcane and other crops. According to him cause of breach was releasing more water than the capacity of canal.

The Gujar canal passes through mid of Nawabshah town.
