Islamabad: Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal announced Pakistan's goal to become a one-trillion-dollar economy by 2035. Highlighting the country's key challenge, he emphasized the need to convert economic stability into sustained growth, productivity, exports, investment, and employment.
According to Radio Pakistan, Ahsan Iqbal addressed a delegation of Harvard Business School MBA students in Islamabad, discussing the government's 'URAAN Pakistan' framework, which is based on five essential elements known as the 5Es. He pointed out that Pakistan's young population, strategic location, abundant resources, and growing digital economy are crucial drivers for potential economic transformation.
The Minister underscored the importance of focusing on Productivity, Quality, and Innovation (PQI) to boost the global reputation of "Made in Pakistan" products. He stressed the need for Pakistan to build technological capabilities in emerging fields such as artificial intelligence, biotechnology, and advanced manufacturing, while also incorporating climate resilience into economic strategies.
Discussing the next phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, Ahsan Iqbal highlighted its focus on industrial cooperation, technology transfer, agriculture, exports, and fostering business partnerships. He noted that long-term transformation requires consistent policy-making and enhanced private-sector involvement.
The Minister also extended an invitation to the visiting students, encouraging them to return as investors, entrepreneurs, and partners in the journey towards Pakistan's economic development.
