Pakistan’s Global Recognition Grows as PM Announces Petroleum Price Reduction

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced a significant reduction in petroleum product prices today, fulfilling his government's promise to pass on the benefits of declining international oil prices to the public. Speaking in the National Assembly, he highlighted the decrease in petroleum prices following the peace agreement between the United States and Iran, expressing confidence that prices would further decline.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister acknowledged the government's efforts to shield citizens from inflation after regional tensions led to a spike in petroleum prices. He noted that the Federal Government bore expenditures amounting to one hundred and twenty-eight billion rupees during this period. Shehbaz Sharif expressed gratitude to the public for their patience throughout these challenging times.

The Prime Minister emphasized Pakistan's growing global respect, attributing it to the nation's role in brokering peace between the US and Iran. He stated that the honor bestowed upon Pakistan is a rare achievement that nations strive for over centuries. He urged the National Assembly to pass a unanimous resolution to celebrate this diplomatic success and demonstrate unity on the international stage.

Shehbaz Sharif praised the efforts of key figures, including Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, in reaching the peace agreement. He also recounted a telephonic conversation with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, who expressed gratitude for Pakistan's support during tough times.

The Prime Minister extended an invitation to the Iranian President to visit Pakistan, assuring a warm welcome that reflects the brotherly bond between the two nations. He also mentioned an invitation from the Iranian President to attend the funeral of the late Iranian supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, which a Pakistani delegation will attend.

Looking ahead, Shehbaz Sharif expressed optimism about strengthening multifaceted cooperation between Pakistan and Iran, anticipating economic prosperity in the region following the ceasefire.
