9th Buraq Space Camp held
Islamabad: The Deputy Chief of the Air Staff (Personnel) Air Marshal Syed Athar Hussain Bukhari inaugurated the 9th Buraq Space Camp, says a press release issued on Friday.
Similar to previous camps, the latest camp brings forty of the smartest students in the fourteen to sixteen years of age bracket from across Pakistan to be exposed to some of the brightest minds in physics, strategy and space sciences in the region. The students will spend 10 days on site at Buraq Camp.
In addition to the lectures by prominent scientists, intellectuals, and entrepreneurs, the students will also learn through experiential assignments such as hands-on experiments and field trips. The Camp and prizes are fully sponsored by the Buraq Planetary Society and the selected students are not required to pay any fees or cost to attend the camp, it said in release.
Students registered on the society’s website were earlier given a simultaneous nation wide written aptitude test, which tested their mathematical and creative thinking skills and used as the primary criterion for entering students to the camp.
The Buraq Planetary Society, formed in 1993, is the oldest and only registered Society exclusively working to spread awareness and understanding of the significance of space sciences within the Youth of Pakistan.
