United States deepens bilateral partnership with KP

The United States has taken a number of initiatives related to economic growth, education, security, and cultural preservation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to deepen the partnership with the people of the province.

According to a press release issued by the US Consulate General in Peshawar, the US Ambassador to Pakistan, Donald Blome undertook 3-day visit of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to review these measures.

To strengthen the US-Pakistan economic partnership in KP, the Ambassador and KP Planning and Development Secretary Shah Mahmood Khan inaugurated a new five-year project of worth 24 million dollars to strengthen and modernize the agriculture sector and small and medium enterprises.

Ambassador Blome also met with business leaders to talk about trade and commerce in the province, as well as environmental practices in business.

To highlight educational activities, Ambassador Blome visited Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan to inaugurate a new English Works program.

The United States is providing scholarships for 215 KP students to complete a six-month program in Mardan and Charsadda to improve their English language proficiency and other skills needed for professional success.

Since 2019, the United States has provided more than 3 million dollars to support English language education in KP, benefiting more than 3,500 students and teachers in this province.

The United States also invested 1.5 million dollars to rebuild the school, which employs over 50 teachers and is educating more than 1,100 students.

During his visit, the US Ambassador met the new Inspector General of KP Police, Akhtar Hayat Khan, to discuss US support for KP police and their facilities.

He also shared condolences for the officers and citizens who lost their lives in the January 30 Peshawar Mosque attack.

PML-N fully prepared to contest election: Maryam

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senior Vice President and Chief Organiser Maryam Nawaz has said the party is fully prepared to contest elections in Punjab or any other part of the country.

Addressing a women wing meeting in Gujranwala, she said that the PML-N would win the general election with a thumping majority and exhorted the workers to gird their loins for the purpose.

Maryam Nawaz said that party workers passion is being increased with every passing convention.

The meeting also discussed activities of women wing and reviewed its performance.

Karachi has huge potential for economic development of country: Murad

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah inaugurated on Friday 18th “My Karachi-Oasis of Harmony” Exhibition at Expo Centre Karachi.

The exhibition has been arranged by Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industries.

Addressing the ceremony, he said the exhibitions being arranged consistently from 2004 has strengthened the bonds of foreign investor’s local business community.

He said economic activities in Karachi city have restored the image of the country in the comity of nations.

Syed Murad Ali Shah said Karachi has a huge potential for the economic development of the country and his government was striving for providing a conducive atmosphere to manufacturers by decreasing the cost of production.

Punjab Governor inaugurates spring tree plantation drive

Punjab Governor Muhammad Baligh-ur-Rehman has urged people to eagerly participate in plantation drive in order to save future generations from the adverse effects of the climate change.

He said this while inaugurating spring tree plantation drive by planting a sapling at Governor House in Lahore on Friday.

He stressed the need to enhance the forest cover in large urban centres in order to mitigate the adverse impacts of global warming.

The Governor said that numerous examples were found in the saying of Holy Prophet (SAWW) about the importance of trees as it is also strictly prohibited in Islam to cut plants even in the situation of war.
