FM to attend World Economic Forum’s meeting in Davos on Monday

Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will attend the World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland which will begin on Monday. The Foreign Minister will be accompanied by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar.The World Economic Forum annually brings together political and business leaders to identify pathways to overcome economic, social, and environmental challenges. This year’s forum is being organized under the theme, “Cooperation in a Fragmented World”. The Foreign Minister and the Minister of State will participate in a number of WEF’s 5-days events on contemporary global and regional issues.The Foreign Minister will share Pakistan’s perspective on economic and social impact of the evolving geopolitical realities, and challenges for the region’s security and stability.He will highlight the developing world’s perspective on issues of climate change, food and energy security, and social vulnerabilities in times of high inflation, and slowing economic activity.The Foreign Minister and the Minister of State will also meet participating dignitaries including political leaders, corporate executives, heads of international organizations, and leading media and civil society personalities.

Govt making tireless efforts to improve national economy: Dar

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar says government’s economic team, under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s leadership, is making tireless efforts to improve the economy.He expressed these views while talking to Governor Punjab Baligh Ur Rehman in Lahore on Saturday.The Finance Minister expressed hope that economy will improve further in the coming days. He rejected the baseless impression that country could default.During the meeting, overall country’s economic and political situation also came under discussion.

AJK Cabinet approves subsidy on flour, compensation for disabled persons

The AJK Cabinet in its meeting held in Muzaffarabad on Saturday approved subsidy on flour and compensation for the disabled persons residing alongside Working Boundary.Prime Minister AJK Sardar Tanveer Ilyas presided over the meeting.

It was decided in the meeting that government will give a subsidy of 60 percent on the government flour to minimize people’s sufferings.The cabinet approved compensation to the disabled living alongside the Working Boundary of Punjab on the pattern of the Line of Control Package.

The cabinet also approved AJK Election Amendment Bill, AJK Food Plan Regulation Act, and the amendment to Local Government Act.
