Islamabad: According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, 14% of Pakistani women think men and women are not granted the same rights in terms of access to health services.
A nationally representative sample of women from across the four provinces was asked “In your community/area, are women and men granted the same rights in terms of access to health services?” Responding to this, 35% said ‘completely’, 50% said ‘to an extent’ and 14% said ‘not at all’.
However, 1% did not give a response. This question used a women only sample and is part of a series of press releases regarding Women’s Day.
The study was released by Gilani foundation and carried out by Gallup Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International.
The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 1265 women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, during February 18, 2013 – February 25, 2013. Error margin is estimated to be approximately ± 2-3 per cent at 95% confidence level.
