Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed the officials concerned to ensure honorable and hassle-free provision of petrol subsidies to the people.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister emphasized the need to widen the scope of beneficiaries. He announced that motorcycles, Chingchi, and auto-rickshaws, which typically refuel with less than five litres of petrol, will now be eligible for a weekly discount of 500 rupees per token. Each recipient will receive one token per week, amounting to four tokens monthly.
Additionally, the current system for vehicles up to 800cc will persist. These vehicle owners will continue to benefit from a discount of 100 rupees per litre on up to ten litres of petrol every ten days. This plan involves the distribution of three tokens, each containing ten litres of petrol, per month.
Previously, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had introduced a measure to make the registration SMS service completely free for citizens eligible for this subsidy scheme.
