Islamabad: Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Authority (ICT-PEIRA) has decided to initiate strict legal action against unregistered private educational institutions operating without lawful registration in the Islamabad Capital Territory.
According to Radio Pakistan, the decision was made during a meeting of the Authority chaired by Dr. Ghulam Ali Mallah. The Authority plans to exercise its powers under Section five of the ICT-PEIRA Act, 2013, following the issuance of repeated legal notices, reminders, and public warnings through print and electronic media.
The meeting also concluded that no private educational institution will be allowed to charge fees beyond the approved academic session of twelve months, which runs either from April to March or August to July. Additionally, a dedicated complaint cell has been established to assist parents and other complainants.
In a move to alleviate the burden on students, the Authority approved the implementation of the 'Lighter School Bags Policy' across all private educational institutions in the Islamabad Capital Territory.
Speaking to media after the meeting, Chairman ICT-PEIRA emphasized the Authority's commitment to ensuring transparency, lawful regulation, and the promotion of quality education in private educational institutions, aiming to facilitate residents of Islamabad.
