New york: The Permanent Mission of Pakistan to the UN and the Consulate General of Pakistan in New York organized a flag hoisting ceremony at the Chancery building to commemorate Pakistan's Independence Day.
According to Radio Pakistan, Pakistan's Permanent Representative to the UN, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, addressed the gathering, emphasizing the need for a renewed commitment to the founding ideals of Pakistan, including national sovereignty, peace, security, and socio-economic development.
During his speech, Ambassador Ahmad reflected on Pakistan's journey since gaining independence on 14 August 1947. He highlighted the resilience, courage, and achievements of the Pakistani people across various fields, noting that these were accomplished despite significant challenges.
The Ambassador also reiterated Pakistan's strong moral, political, and diplomatic support for the people of Jammu and Kashmir, as well as for the rights of Palestinians. He reaffirmed Pakistan's longstanding commitment to the rights and aspirations of the peoples of Jammu and Kashmir and Palestine.
