Islamabad:Pakistan and Austria have exchanged views on regional and international developments, including the situation in the Middle East, during a meeting on the sidelines of the 81st Session of the UN General Assembly.
According to Radio Pakistan, the meeting involved Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, and Minister for European and International Affairs of Austria, Beate Meinl-Reisinger. Both ministers expressed satisfaction with the positive trajectory of Pakistan-Austria bilateral relations and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, economic relations, education, and people-to-people ties.
Senator Dar emphasized the importance of dialogue, diplomacy, and peaceful resolution of disputes, in line with the principles of the UN Charter and international law. He also highlighted the necessity for the full implementation of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding by all parties.
Austrian Foreign Minister Beate Meinl-Reisinger appreciated Pakistan's constructive role in promoting regional peace and stability and stressed the importance of sustained diplomatic engagement to address regional and global challenges. The two countries agreed to maintain close engagement on matters of mutual interest.
