Lahore: The 68th martyrdom anniversary of Major Tufail Muhammad Shaheed, Nishan-e-Haider, was observed today. Major Tufail Muhammad Shaheed was born in Hoshiarpur city of the eastern Punjab, on 22nd July 1914. In August 1958, he was assigned to launch an offensive against Indian forces in the area of Lakshmipur. Despite sustaining fatal injuries, he resolutely completed his mission, demonstrating unmatched bravery and dedication to duty, ultimately embracing martyrdom.
According to Radio Pakistan, President Asif Ali Zardari paid tribute to Major Tufail Muhammad Shaheed on his 68th martyrdom anniversary, honoring his supreme sacrifice for the defense of the homeland. In his message, the President highlighted Major Tufail's contribution to the country's defense history by laying down his life to neutralize the enemy's illegal occupation in the Lakshmipur sector. He noted that the martyr's sacrifice remains a source of pride for the nation and a guiding light for future generations.
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif also paid tribute to Shaheed Major Tufail Muhammad, acknowledging his sacrifice and bravery as a source of pride for the entire nation. He emphasized that the nation will never forget the sacrifices of its martyrs, as they serve as a shining example for generations to come.
The Chief of Army Staff, Chief of Defense Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, and the Armed Forces of Pakistan also paid homage to Major Tufail Muhammad Shaheed, Nishan-e-Haider, on this significant day.
