Islamabad: The Red Zone and Extended Red Zone in Islamabad will remain completely closed for all kinds of traffic due to the arrival of foreign delegations in the federal capital. Islamabad Police, in its post on X, have advised citizens to use alternate routes and cooperate with traffic police to ensure smooth traffic flow and security.
According to Radio Pakistan, the authorities have devised an alternative traffic plan, which will remain in force from today until further orders. Under the traffic arrangements, the Expressway from Koral to Zero Point will remain closed for general traffic, while traffic on the Srinagar Highway may also be suspended intermittently.
Residents of sectors G-5, G-6, G-7, F-6, and F-7 traveling to Rawalpindi have been advised to use Margalla Road via 9th Avenue. Traffic moving between Faisal Avenue and Zero Point will be diverted towards 9th Avenue. In case of closure at Koral Chowk from Zero Point, commuters may use Srinagar Highway via 9th Avenue, proceeding through Stadium Road, Rawat Chowk, and Chandni Chowk to reach their destinations.
Similarly, if Club Road is closed from Park Road, traffic will be diverted towards Taramari Chowk. Citizens traveling from Bhara Kahu to Rawalpindi have been advised to use Korang Road, Bani Gala, and Lehtrar Road. People commuting from Rawalpindi Saddar to Islamabad can use Link Sher Khan Road, 9th Avenue, or other available routes.
Heavy traffic traveling from Peshawar to Lahore via GT Road has been directed to use the Motorway through Chakri Interchange, Chak Beli Road, and Rawat GT Road. Likewise, heavy traffic from Lahore to Peshawar should use Chak Beli Road and Chakri Interchange via the Motorway.
