Islamabad: The AJK government has called on citizens to remain vigilant against the activities of the banned Joint Action Committee, which reportedly includes a significant number of terrorists and militants among its members. This appeal was made by Secretary Information AJK, Muhammad Rashid Hanif, during a news conference alongside AJK Police spokesperson, DIG Irfan Masood Kashifi.
According to Radio Pakistan, the AJK Secretary Information emphasized that the general public is largely uninvolved with the banned Action Committee, which predominantly consists of militants, some of whom are linked to Fitna al Khawarij. He warned that these militants exploit the guise of advocating for people's rights to entrap ordinary citizens and further their agenda.
Hanif urged citizens to dissociate from this group to facilitate the government's efforts to maintain peace and order. He highlighted the militants' use of women and children as human shields, complicating state actions against them. To counter these tactics, local-level official announcements will be made to educate the public about these terrorist elements.
The Secretary Information also warned about misleading social media campaigns orchestrated by these elements, falsely presenting themselves as a rights movement. He assured that state institutions possess comprehensive information about the militants and urged the public to disregard disinformation and propaganda.
During the conference, DIG AJK Police Irfan Masood Kashifi stated that the Joint Action Committee members are heavily armed and include terrorists, necessitating appropriate countermeasures from law enforcement. He described them as paid criminals and revealed ongoing investigations to identify and apprehend their facilitators.
Kashifi reported the arrest of an armed individual in Rawalakot, found with an M-8 weapon and sniper training. He stressed that such elements targeting law enforcement agencies will not be tolerated, and the state's authority will be upheld at all costs.
