Islamabad: Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal has urged the private sector to play a leading role in realizing the economic potential of CPEC Phase-II. He emphasized this during a review meeting to assess progress on the implementation of the CPEC Action Plan for 2025-2029 held in Islamabad today.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Minister underscored the urgency of expanding exports, describing it as a national emergency. He identified the target of reaching 100 billion dollars in exports by 2035 as essential for Pakistan's economic survival. To achieve this, stronger cooperation between the government and the private sector is crucial for enhancing competitiveness and establishing Made in Pakistan as a globally recognized brand.
Ahsan Iqbal highlighted the detrimental impact of political instability on economic transformation efforts. He noted the importance of converting recent strategic and diplomatic successes into tangible economic gains through national unity, reforms, and improved governance.
Furthermore, the Minister called upon all political forces to prioritize economic strengthening and work towards building a self-reliant, export-driven Pakistan.
