Islamabad:Pakistan's Foreign Office Spokesperson, Sajjad Haider Khan, has strongly rejected and condemned recent remarks by the Indian Defence Minister, which he described as provocative and entailing a threat of aggression against Pakistan.
According to Radio Pakistan, Khan criticized these remarks during his weekly media briefing, stating that they reflect India's hegemonic mindset and pose a significant risk to regional peace and stability in South Asia. He reminded India of the consequences of its military aggression in May of the previous year, during which Pakistan demonstrated its capability and resolve to defend its territorial integrity.
Khan emphasized that Pakistan is fully prepared to safeguard its sovereignty against any ill-advised aggression, asserting that Pakistan's restraint should not be mistaken for weakness. He called for India to abandon its belligerent posture and dangerous rhetoric to ensure lasting peace in the region.
Addressing another issue, Khan condemned India's actions on August 5, 2019, which involved dividing the Jammu and Kashmir region, labeling these actions as illegal and void. He reiterated that Jammu and Kashmir remains an internationally recognized disputed territory and its final status should be determined according to UN Security Council resolutions and the wishes of the Kashmiri people.
The Spokesperson also addressed the recent Houthi militia attacks on Saudi Arabia, condemning the terrorist attack targeting King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh. He reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to Saudi Arabia's security and stability, emphasizing the country's stance under the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement.
