Islamabad:Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar has praised the significant contributions of Pakistan's Catholic community, especially in the fields of education and health.
According to Radio Pakistan, Ishaq Dar made these remarks during a meeting with Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, Secretary for Relations with States of the Holy See, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Archbishop Gallagher is visiting Pakistan to commemorate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and the Holy See.
During the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister acknowledged the Holy See's efforts in promoting peace, interfaith harmony, and dialogue. He also expressed appreciation for Pope Leo XIV's appeals for peace and a just resolution to the Palestine conflict, reiterating Pakistan's solidarity with the Palestinian people.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing Pakistan-Holy See relations and fostering mutual respect, understanding, and coexistence among different faiths. They also conveyed their concern over the ongoing humanitarian crisis and stressed the need for sustained international efforts to promote peace in the region.
Archbishop Gallagher praised Pakistan's positive role in advancing regional peace and stability through mediation, dialogue, and diplomacy.
