Islamabad:Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has announced that the government is making efforts to simplify tax procedures to assist retailers in meeting their tax obligations.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Finance Minister chaired a meeting in Islamabad on Friday to assess the progress of the Retailers' Tax Scheme and to discuss strategies for facilitating registration and expanding the tax base.
Aurangzeb highlighted that the scheme aims to provide a straightforward path for retailers to integrate into the formal tax system, thereby contributing to the country's economic growth. He stressed that the scheme is designed for long-term implementation and should not be perceived as a temporary measure ending in 2026. Instead, it offers a simplified approach for small retailers to enter and remain within the formal tax framework over the coming years.
