Islamabad:Pakistan and Bahrain have reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation across various sectors. This declaration came during the third session of the Pakistan-Bahrain Joint Ministerial Commission, co-chaired by Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Bahrain's Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani.
According to Radio Pakistan, the two leaders signed the protocol for the session, which reflects their shared resolve to expand collaboration in areas of mutual interest. The meeting led to the establishment of several joint working groups, aimed at ensuring regular engagement and effective implementation of decisions made by the commission.
Both countries agreed to boost cooperation in trade, investment, industrial collaboration, agriculture, food security, skills development, higher education, IT, logistics, and maritime affairs. The session also emphasized the importance of fostering closer ties between the business communities of Pakistan and Bahrain.
Ishaq Dar highlighted the commitment to improve cooperation in labor mobility, vocational training, and human resource development, creating opportunities for skilled Pakistani professionals. Discussions also covered the evolving situation in the Gulf, emphasizing the need for restraint, dialogue, and ensuring the safety of navigation through strategic straits.
The Deputy Prime Minister reiterated Pakistan's dedication to supporting diplomatic efforts for regional peace and stability. Topics such as developments in South Asia, the situation in Afghanistan, and the Indus Waters Treaty were also discussed, with Dar criticizing India's actions concerning the treaty as a breach of international law.
Bahrain's Foreign Minister announced the establishment of a Joint Working Group on Trade and Investment, with plans to discuss energy cooperation next month. He noted the strategic nature of Bahrain-Pakistan relations, expressing determination to build on the day's outcomes for the peace and prosperity of both nations. The minister also committed to doubling bilateral trade within three years.
