Arusha:Bangladesh has been elected to the Executive Committee of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).
According to Radio Pakistan, Pakistan extended its full support to Bangladesh's candidature during the Asia-Pacific Group meeting held on the sidelines of the 153rd IPU Assembly in Arusha, Tanzania.
Jaharat Adib Chowdhury, the representative from Bangladesh, secured a majority of votes to join the IPU Executive Committee. Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani congratulated the Bangladeshi delegation and expressed Pakistan's interest in further strengthening parliamentary engagement with Bangladesh.
