Islamabad:Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar met with UN Secretary-General António Guterres in Islamabad to discuss a range of regional and global issues concerning peace and security.
According to Radio Pakistan, the discussions involved topics such as Palestine, Jammu and Kashmir, Afghanistan, counter-terrorism, and the future of multilateralism. Ishaq Dar informed the UN Secretary-General about Pakistan's stance on the Jammu and Kashmir issue and the Indus Waters Treaty. He reiterated Pakistan's call for a just and peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute in line with relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions.
During the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized Pakistan's diplomatic initiatives aimed at promoting dialogue and reducing tensions, including efforts to facilitate the Islamabad Talks between the United States and Iran. He highlighted Pakistan's commitment to dialogue and diplomacy as the most effective means of resolving disputes.
The UN Secretary-General expressed appreciation for Pakistan's longstanding contributions to the United Nations and its diplomatic efforts to foster dialogue, mediation, and de-escalation.
