Islamabad:President Asif Ali Zardari has called for the transformation of Pakistan and Poland's historic friendship into a multifaceted partnership.
According to Radio Pakistan, President Zardari made these remarks during a meeting with Polish Minister Tomasz Siemoniak in Islamabad. He emphasized the value Pakistan places on its cordial relations with Poland, which are based on mutual respect. The President expressed hope that the minister's visit would enhance bilateral cooperation for the mutual benefit of both nations.
President Zardari appreciated Poland's acknowledgment of Pakistan's diplomatic efforts during the recent US-Iran crisis. He reiterated Pakistan's commitment to resolving disputes through dialogue to promote regional and global peace and stability. The President commended Poland's economic transformation since 1991, which has resulted in a trillion-dollar economy, and highlighted the importance of increased business and people-to-people exchanges.
He also acknowledged Poland's support for Pakistan regarding the EU's GSP+ scheme and expressed confidence in reinforced coordination between the two countries at regional and multilateral levels.
Polish Minister Tomasz Siemoniak praised Pakistan's constructive role in fostering regional peace and stability. He expressed Poland's interest in strengthening bilateral cooperation, particularly in political, economic, and people-to-people interactions. Siemoniak noted the strong and traditional ties between Poland and Pakistan, including in defense, and mentioned Poland's efforts to explore cooperation in security, immigration, and combating terrorism, alongside expanding defense and economic relations with Pakistan.
