Approvals Under Apna Ghar Initiative Surge by 84%

Islamabad: Adviser to the Finance Minister Khurram Schehzad has announced significant progress in Pakistan's financial sector, with a notable increase in approvals under the Apna Ghar initiative. This development is part of the country's broader strategy to channel finances towards homes, farms, SMEs, electric vehicles, and exports, transforming stability into opportunity, investment, and growth.

According to Radio Pakistan, Khurram Schehzad, in a recent post on his X handle, highlighted the substantial advancements across key sectors since June 2026. He revealed that the approvals under the Apna Ghar initiative have surged by eighty-four percent. Additionally, the approved financing has nearly doubled, reaching approximately 280 billion rupees. Loan disbursements have also increased by fifty-nine percent, indicating a strong trend towards housing finance.

Schehzad also pointed out the expansion in the agriculture sector's formal credit access. Approximately one hundred and fifteen thousand new borrowers have secured financing, with approvals under the Zarkhez-e programme increasing by twelve percent and disbursements growing by thirteen percent. For small and medium enterprises (SMEs), around 330,000 businesses are now accessing formal financing, totaling 1.05 trillion rupees.

Furthermore, the adviser noted that export financing is being more significantly directed towards working capital, business investment, refinancing, and export-related incentives. The government's efforts to expand green financing have also seen positive results, with approvals under the PAVE initiative rising by twenty-four percent and disbursements increasing by thirty-four percent. Electric vehicle deliveries have more than tripled, reflecting a growing shift towards sustainable transportation.

Schehzad emphasized that the government's objective is to steer capital towards productive activities, broaden economic opportunities, and enable more Pakistanis to participate in the country's growth trajectory.
