Islamabad: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has stressed the need for professional, timely, and responsible communication strategies to effectively counter misinformation and misleading content in the digital age. He conveyed these points while addressing a delegation of 217 probationary officers from the 54th Common Training Programme during their visit to the Information Ministry's Digital Communication Department.
According to Radio Pakistan, Attaullah Tarar highlighted the importance of effective government communication in promoting transparency, providing accurate information to the public, and strengthening public trust in state institutions. He emphasized that the Common Training Programme plays a significant role in enhancing the professional capabilities of government officers, equipping them to provide effective public service.
The Information Minister urged the young officers to serve Pakistan with humility, commitment, and a strong sense of responsibility. He called on them to perform their duties with integrity and professionalism, always prioritizing the national interest.
Earlier in the visit, the delegation received a briefing on the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting's role, including government communication, the promotion of the national narrative, digital communication, public awareness, and efforts to counter misinformation. The officers were informed about public outreach through digital communication and strategies to keep citizens informed about government policies and initiatives.
The probationary officers expressed appreciation for the briefing and showed keen interest in the role of government communication and digital media in today's information landscape.
