Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has directed for timely action to accelerate the privatization process and advance the government's structural reforms agenda aimed at improving efficiency. He was chairing a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Privatisation in Islamabad.
According to Radio Pakistan, the meeting reviewed progress on the privatization of the Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO), Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO), and Gujranwala Electric Power Company (GEPCO). The committee directed the Privatization Commission to complete the consultation process with the Power Division by early next week.
The Committee also considered the inclusion of additional entities in the privatization programme and approved the proposals of the Privatization Division with modifications. The budget of the Privatization Commission was presented and approved with amendments. The Committee reviewed the annual privatization program and the way forward, directing the Commission to expedite the process.
