Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar held a telephonic conversation with Iran's Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi, during which he extended congratulations on the signing of the "Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding" with the United States. He expressed his best wishes for the upcoming phase of negotiations, hoping for a smooth process and positive results.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Iranian Foreign Minister expressed his gratitude to Pakistan for its constructive and sustained mediation efforts. The discussion also covered regional developments, with both leaders expressing serious concerns over ceasefire violations by Israel in Lebanon.
Additionally, Seyed Abbas Araghchi thanked Ishaq Dar for Pakistan's assistance in the repatriation of thirty Iranian nationals, which included eight fishermen rescued by the United Kingdom and twenty-two crew members recently interdicted by the United States. Pakistan is currently coordinating the transit arrangements for these individuals.
Both leaders emphasized the importance of ongoing engagement and agreed to maintain close contact.
