Karachi: A walk was held by KMC in collaboration with the Pakistan Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons from Boat Basin to Bilawal Roundabout in Clifton. The walk was aimed at creating awareness about the Oral Cancer.
Chief Officer of KMC Matanat Ali Khan was the chief guest on this occasion whereas a good number of medical experts, teachers, students and people from civil society participated in the walk. Senior Director Medical Services Dr. A.D Sajnani, Dr. Mehmood Haider and other were also present in the walk.
The Chief Officer said it was a matter of concern that the mouth cancer accounts for the second biggest cause of cancer in Pakistan and 1.5 to 2 Lacs people were suffered due to it in Karachi.
He said Chhalia, Pan, Gutka, Niswar were responsible for this disease.
He said a 3 day world conference was being organized in this connection from 13th December.
Chief Officer said KMC will establish a hospital for treatment of mouth cancer which would provide best of services to patients.
Dr. Mehmood Haider urged the parents to disallow children taking these things which are harmful to their health.
