Use of helmets with colored face cover to be banned

KARACHI: Police have decided to take extraordinary measures to maintain law and order situation in the city under which helmets with colored face cover being used by bike riders would be banned.

Chairing a high level meeting at the Central Police Office Karachi, Inspector General of Police IGP Sind Ghulam Shabbir Shaikh directed police officials to start a one week campaign for giving information and educating and cooperating with citizens and shop keepers about the coming ban on such helmets. He said to maintain the Law and order in the city, the awareness about police and citizen’s cooperation should be raised.

Zonal DIGs, SSPs from districts, SSPs investigation, officers from specialized units and divisional SSPs attended the meeting. It was decided in meeting that a campaign would be started against illegal blue lights, coloured window panes, AFR and illegal number plats being used in cars.

IG ordered police to locate terrorist, proclaimed absconders, accused and their hideouts and take action against them with collective police units.

He decided that for result oriented investigation special teams would be formed on DIGs level and these teams should investigate target killing cases.

He said appreciation certificates and cash prizes would be given to police officers who according to pro active policing show good performance.
