Three female vaccinators gunned down

Karachi: Three female vaccinators were gunned in firing incidents in Landhi and Orangi town areas on Tuesday. Polio vaccinators 20 years old Madiha D/o Attaullah, 40 years old Fehmida W/o Riaz were gunned down by undefined armed men in Gulshan e Bunir, Landhi Town in the remit of Quaidabad Police Station while they were performing polio vaccination duty in the area. The attackers managed to flee. The bodies were shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities.

Similarly, 19 years old Kaneez Akhtar, polio vaccinator, was gunned down by unidentified armed men in Tori Bangish Colony, Orangi Town in the remit of Iqbal Market Police Station. However, Israr, a male worker was wounded in the incident. The assailants managed to flee from the scene. The body and injured moved to Abbassi Shaheed Hospital.

Later, the government halted polio drive in Karachi, as well as, other parts of Sindh province due to attacks on polio teams.
