Sports: Squash: Pak players fall in squash rankings

Karachi: Top Pakistani squash players faced slump in their rankings for the month of January according to the rankings published by Professional Squash Association PSA on Tuesday.

Pakistan No 1 Aamir Atlas Khan slumps four places and he now sits at the brink of elite Top 50 list at No 50.

Lahore based Yasir Butt sank 13 places to 78th spot. Aamir’s younger brother Danish Atlas Khan fell eight places to 98th spot.

But teenagers Nasir Iqbal and Farhan Zaman moved in the right direction with Iqbal moving up seven places to 90th spot while Zaman bettering his rankings by five places to 93rd spot.

Meanwhile, Egypt’s Ramy Ashour reclaims the world number one ranking. 25yearold from Cairo first topped the rankings three years ago – and held it for all but three months of 2010.

Ashour becomes the first player since Pakistan’s legendary Jansher Khan in the mid-nineties to make the final of every event in which he competed in a calendar year.
