Sports: Cricket: Pak women WC match moved from Mumbai
Karachi: Pakistan Women’s cricket team World Cup matches have been moved to Cuttak, Orissa from Mumbai after Pakistan cricket team received threats from Hindu extremist outfit Shiv Sena.
Shiv Sena, which has a stronghold in Mumbai, recently disrupted Pakistan hockey players’ practice in Mumbai. Pakistan’s nine hockey players, who were supposed to feature in ongoing Hockey India League were then sent back home due to security concerns.
The security concerns have now also grown for Pakistan’s women’s team, which would be participating in the Women’s World Cup.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced that matches of Group B, which includes Pakistan has now been moved to Cuttak.
Pakistan is scheduled to play its first match against Australia on January 31.
