Karachi: The Sindh High Court on Monday issued notice to Sindh chief secretary, chairman OGRA, town police officer of Jamshed town and other respondents on petition seeking action against CNG and petrol pumps/ gas stations allegedly creating law and order situation.
Petitioner Waseem Abbas cited province of Sindh through chief secretary, chairman Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority, town police officer of Jamshed Town, SHO Jamshed town, deputy commissioner East and owners of the CNG and petrol pumping stations as respondents.
Petitioners submitted that the CNG and petrol pump stations situated at Main MA Jinnah Road just opposite and adjacent to the mausoleum of the Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah are within the area of less than half kilometre which is the violation of the concerned laws.
He stated that adjacent and opposite these pumps there is mausoleum of the Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and there is also residential area around the pumps which cause residents of the area and visitors to suffer and also create law and order situation.
He said that these pumps also create hurdles during the processions at MA Jinnah Road which can lead to law and order situation.
He said that said pumps have not obtained the NoC from the competent authority, hence total construction of the pumps was illegal and liable to be demolished.
He appealed to court to direct the respondents to stop the pumps from functioning to avoid any mishap and law order situation.
Headed by Justice Maqbool Baqar, the division bench issued notice to all respondents.
