QUETTA: Major Parts of Balochistan including Quetta Valley received rains and snowfall over the hills Thursday. Quetta recorded 17 millimetres of rain.
According to details it started light rain since last afternoon which continued till today with intervals. Seventeen millimetres of rains were recorded in Quetta during the past 24 hours.
Mountains around Quetta were also covered with snow and gave beautiful look.
Snowfall continued in Ziarat Valley some 75 miles north east of Quetta second consecutive day. So far about one foot snow has fallen. Picnic mongers and tourists rushed to the town in large numbers. Administration cleared the roads of snow with the help of bulldozers. Long load shedding of gas and interrupted supply of electricity has caused great problems for the people in the town.
In Quetta people thronged to lunda bazaar after increase in cold weather in the wake of rain and snowfall on the mountains. However used warm clothes had were high in cost.
Minimum temperature recorded here Thursday was 01 Celsius and maximum 8.5 Celsius.
Met office has forecast hazy weather and thunder rain at night and cloudy weather during the day Friday.
Meanwhile traffic was suspended following damage to bridge along national highway near Killa Abdullah. Killa Abdullah is about 65 miles north of Quetta along Quetta-Chaman national highway. It followed accumulation of rain water which resulted
in damage to the bridge this afternoon. Due to the damage to the bridge hundreds of small and big vehicles were stranded along with sides of the road. People strongly protested against contractor and chanted slogans against NHA.
