Qadri: FIR registered and sealed against Qadri, his followers ISLAMABAD: A First Information Report FIR was registered against Minhajul Quran International MQI chief Dr Tahirul Qadri and his followers here with the Kohsar Police Station, police said on Wednesday. According to police, the sections of Criminal Procedure Code CrPC imposed in the FIR included murder attempts, interfering in governmental matters, snatching and disturbing peace. The FIR was registered on the complaint of Inspector Ayub Ahmad, SHO Bhara Kahu Police Station Islamabad, who had received minor injuries on Tuesday during a clash with the MQI’s workers at the Jinnah Avenue. The FIR however was sealed. The FIR nominated Dr Tahirul Qadri, Hanif Mustafavi, Abrar Raza, and 21 other MQI’s members on the allegations of disturbance of public order, attempted murder and robbery etc. Dr Qadri is leading a sitin in Islamabad, which entered its third day on Wednesday. Tens of thousands of followers of Dr Qadri are staging a sitin. During his fiery speech on Tuesday, the MQI chief had blamed the incumbent government for the country’s woes like poverty, pricehike and shortage of gas and electricity etc. Police clashed briefly with stone throwers and protesters brandishing sticks on Tuesday, shooting into the air and firing tear gas. Eight police officials had received minor injuries. Organisers of the long march accused police of opening fire and of attempting to arrest Dr Qadri and blamed Interior Minister Rehman Malik for issuing such directives.
