President Hadi welcoming new UN envoy for Yemen

Riyadh (UNA-OIC) � Yemen's President AbdRabbu Mansour Hadi welcomed the appointment of senior international mediator Martin Griffiths of Britain as the new United Nations special envoy for Yemen.

Hadi stressed the readiness of the legitimate government to cooperate with the UN envoy in order to facilitate his tasks to achieve the desired security and stability, based on the national, regional and international decisions and references on the implementation of the outcome of the national dialogue, the Gulf Initiative and and relevant UN resolutions, particularly Resolution 2216.

This came during a meeting with British Embassy Charge d'Affaires to Yemen Fiona Walker Doyle in Riyadh on Sunday, where President Hadi praised the United Kingdom for its positive support of Yemen and its legitimate leadership in various international positions and forums, Yemen official news agency reported.

For her part, the charge d'affaires said the British government will appoint a new ambassador to Yemen in the coming weeks to contribute to strengthening and activating the bilateral relations between the two countries at various levels. She affirmed the UK's interest in Yemen in order to ensure security and stability, pointing to the efforts being made to support Yemen in terms of development and economy to overcome the challenges it faces today with the support of the international community.
