Karachi: After stopping the anti-polio drive in Karachi, the government has stopped ongoing polio vaccination in whole Sindh province after five vaccinators and health workers were gunned down in Karachi in two days.
Sindh health minister Dr Sagheer Ahmed ordered stopping the anti-polio campaign after four lady health workers were killed in different parts of the city. According to health department sources, Madiha and Fahmida were gunned down in Gulshan-e-Bunir Landhi, Kaneez in Ittehad Town, Union Council-12, Baldia and Naseema in Siraj Tanveer Colony, Union Council-7, Orangi. On Monday evening a vaccinator, Umer Farooq, was gunned down near Suhrab Goth.
The bodies of slain vaccinators were shifted to hospitals, cases lodged and investigation began.
