Policy demanded for HBWs
Karachi: Home-based workers’ provincial policy process should be expedited, demanded a district consultation, organised by HomeNet Pakistan there Wednesday evening. The district consultation was aimed at is to engage the trade unions in the movement of home-based workers (HBW). Representatives from national trade union federations participated and assured full support in taking the agenda forward. They urged the Sindh government to finalise the draft of the provincial HBW policy.
Ume Laila from HomeNet Pakistan said that a nationwide campaign has been started so raise the issue of HBWs.
Zehra Akbar, representing Bangles workers federation demanded policy draft to be shared with general public for input.
Ahsan ullah from Webcob assured full support in policy formulation and implementation. He suggested having dialogue with employers to bring them on board.
