Karachi: Inspector General Police (IGP) Sindh Fayyaz Ahmed Laghari has directed the officers and cops to implement extraordinary contingency security plan for Jashen Eid e Milad Un Nabi (SAW) with coordination of other law enforcement agencies in order to ensure safety of participants of processions.
He expressed these views on Wednesday while chairing a meeting at his office to review the security arrangements for 12 Rabi ul Awwal processions that would be staged on Friday.
The IGP was briefed about protective policing contingency plan made with consultation of Ulema.
The police was directed to enhance patrolling, random snap checking in their respective areas in order to maintain peace during procession hours and also keep in touch with command and control centre established in Central Police Office. The bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) will also ensure the proper clearance of procession routes. The display of weapons is strictly prohibited for the procession participants.
IGP urged the officers and police personnel to not leave duty points during procession hours and coordinate with citizens. He asked the citizens to keep eye on suspicious activities of people and unclaimed parcels at the route of the 12th Rabi Ul Awwal processions.
