PFA Discarded 1180 KG of Snacks and Sealed 4 Nimko Factories in Lahore

The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has sealed 4 factories for manufacturing substandard snacks in the Allama Iqbal Town and Dholanwal areas in Lahore.

Director General PFA Irfan Memon led the operation discovering 1,180 Kgs of unhygienic snacks that were discarded on the spot.

According to details, PFA seized and later discarded more than 900 kg nimko, 200 kg chips and, 80 kg of daal made from banned food items that can have negative effects on human health.

Briefing the media after the operation, DG PFA said that the regulatory body has sealed the production facilities of BM Nimko, Haji Sahib Nimko Pakoriya, Haji Nawaz Nimko, and Jhulay Lal Nimko Pakoriya.

All sealed factories were manufacturing snacks using low quality flour, vegetable oil, and spices. The factories did not follow guidelines laid down by PFA to ensure a hygienic working environment.

DG PFA lamented the rampant practice of endangering human lives for a few bucks and said:

It is a heinous crime to prepare any food product with substandard materials for minting money. PFA will continue rooting out those elements who play with the lives of citizens.

In another operation, PFA sealed a cold drink factory for manufacturing products using fake labels of a renowned international brand. PFA seized and discarded more than 800,000 liters of cold drink.
