People blocked road as protest against murder of rtd constable

SIALKOT: A retired police constable was shot dead by six unknown armed dacoits on offering resistance during incident of burglary at his house in village Rohaila-Begowala, Sambrial tehsil here the night between Monday and Tuesday.

Reportedly, as many as six unknown armed dacoits stormed into the house of a retired police constable Muhammad Akhtar, made hostage all the family members at gun point and started looting there. The retired police constable showed bravery and overpowered a dacoit. On this, another dacoit shot fire on him in a bid to get his companion freed. The retied constable was shot injured seriously and accused fled away from the spot.

The inured was being taken to Sialkot hospital but he succumbed to his injuries before reaching the hospital.

Today Tuesday, the heirs of the slain retired police constable lodged a strong protest and they kept the traffic blocked for one and half hour on main Sialkot-Wazirabad Road near village Rohaila, demanding immediate arrest of the accused.

The senior police officials rushed to the spot and negotiated with the protesters, assuring the early arrest of the accused. On this assurance, the protesting people dispersed peacefully.

The Begowala police have registered a case with no arrest, in this regard.
