Islamabad: Pakistan and Belarus have agreed to boost cooperation for achieving environmental sustainability and climate resilience-related goals. This understanding was reached during a meeting between Prime Minister's Advisor on Climate Change Romina Khurshid Alam and Belarusian Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Sergey Maslyak in Islamabad today.According to Radio Pakistan, both countries have decided to give special focus on eco-tourism, water conservation, circular economy, green technology transfer, exchange programmes, biodiversity conservation, and climate change adaptation. The discussions included the development and protection of ecological tourism within protected areas such as nature reserves, national parks, and nature reservations.Romina Khurshid Alam proposed collaboration on the mitigation of climate change and adaptation for environmental sustainability, resource management, and economic opportunities. Her proposal underscores the imperative need for joint effort s in addressing the challenges posed by climate change, ensuring that both nations can achieve sustainable development goals.Sergey Maslyak emphasized that Belarus's experience in environmental monitoring can complement Pakistan's efforts to implement eco-friendly policies and practices. This partnership aims to leverage Belarus's expertise to enhance Pakistan's capacity in environmental governance and the implementation of sustainable practices across various sectors.
