Islamabad: The Chairman Intellectual Property Organization of Pakistan Mr. Hameed Ullah Jan Afridi (MNA) has stressed the need that all public and private sector organizations relating to protection of IP Rights, should come forward and contribute to wipe out the menace of counterfeiting and piracy from the country which is one of the main cause and hindrance in local and foreign investments.
He stated this while talking to a group of media persons. He said that a comprehensive policy is being formulated in the light of successful modals of different developed countries to over-come the issues of IPR violations under the law and a national IP strategy would be evolved to tackle the challenges of infringements.
Responding to a question, Mr. Afridi said that investors prefer to invest in those countries, where IP Rights are being protected.
While in Pakistan, he said that it is endeavour of present government to provide conducive environment to local as well as foreign investment by strengthening IP regime. added.
He also indicated that piracy is a major threat for our social system and economic development however; IPO-Pakistan is taking vigorous initiatives to strengthen healthy and transparent economic system in the country.
Chairman IPO said that in order to counter infringement of IP Rights in Pakistan, institutional development measures had been adopted and capacity building programs for the officials of law enforcement agencies are in progress so that violators could be dealt according to the law.
