NA Seventy thousand new gas connections given in present govt tenure, NA informed

Islamabad: The National Assembly was informed Thursday that seventy thousand new gas connections have been given in the tenure of present government.

Responding to a point of order raised by Shaikh Aftab, Minister for Religious Affairs Syed Khurshid Ahmad Shah said that seventy thousand new gas connections have been given in the tenure of the present government.

He said that Punjab has been given priority in the new gas connections keeping in view its growing requirements.

The Minister said five billion rupees have been given to Sui Northern for procurement of gas meters. Four hundred thousand meters have already been purchased.

Responding to a call attention notice of Khawaja Asif, Minister for Religious Affairs Syed Khurshid Ahmad Shah said a committee headed by Law Minister Farooq H. Naek has been constituted to probe into the revelations made by the National Accountability Bureau about the daily corruption of six to eight billion rupees.

He said the committee will hold its first meeting on Monday and all the stakeholders including Chairman NAB and anticorruption officers have been invited to attend this meeting. He called upon the political parties to wage Jehad against corruption.
