Islamabad: The Parliamentary Committee on Appointment of the Chairperson of the National Commission of Status of Women NCSW unanimously confirmed the name of Ms. Khawar Mumtaz for appointment as the Chairperson of NCSW in its meeting held in Parliament House Wednesday with Ms. Bushra Gohar, MNA in chair.
The Prime Minister after consultation with Leader of the Opposition sent three nominations, for consideration of the Parliamentary Committee on appointment of the Chairperson of the National Commission on the Status of Women, to hear and confirm any one of the nominees for appointment as Chairperson of the Commission.
The Committee invited all three nominees to appear before the meeting in the Parliament House. Only two nominees attended the meeting of the committee.
The Committee discussed and considered the nominations and unanimously confirmed and forwarded the name of Ms. Khawar Mumtaz to the Prime Minister of Pakistan for her appointment as the Chairperson of the National Commission on the Status of Women.
